CHAIN's 2018 AI & Blockchain Innovation Summit concludes successfully in Shanghai

The 2018 AI & Blockchain Innovation Summit was held between August 1 and 2, 2018 at Baoshan Innovation Galaxy, Shanghai. The event was co-hosted by Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd. and China America Innovation Network (CHAIN), co-organized by Lingang International Innovation Center and Lingang Innovation Galaxy, with the support of the Standing Committee of Baoshan District Peoples’ Congress and the government of the district. The summit brought together 36 Chinese and American industry experts as well as over 500 tech leaders, who discussed the future development trends in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, automated driving and blockchain. Distinguished attendees included the founder of Netherlands-based Singularity University Yuri van Geest, research fellows from the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, MIT Sloan School of Management senior lecturer and Digital Currency Initiative at MIT’s Media Lab senior advisor Michael Casey, as well as the chief scientist and founding director of the State Key Laboratory for Management and Control of Complex Systems of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Fei-Yue Wang. In addition, top executives from a number of well-known companies attended the event, including Roadstar.ai, Shanghai Boling Move Robotics, AutoX, iVision Ventures and Grand View Capital.

“To find a positive way to start a business, entrepreneurs need to assess the state of competition in the industry they are eyeing in addition to examining the feasibility of profiting from the value added by the product rather than the product itself,” said Cheng Hao, founder of Xunlei Limited, one of China’s leading cloud-based acceleration technology companies, who shared his insights into the ways entrepreneurs find an approach to entrepreneurship. “In the global market, Chinese entrepreneurs have identified a set of internet growth patterns that are more suited to user expectations,” stated Grand View Capital founding partner Wei Haijun.

Dr. Tian Yuandong from Facebook’s AI Lab noted, “Machine learning is now moving towards the mission of how to make creativity a fundamental component of the process.” Boling Move Robotics CEO Zhang Meng gave a presentation on how to create a deep connection between robotics and AI.

Notably, Professor Wang, the chief scientist at the State Key Laboratory and one of the early pioneers in intelligent robotics, autonomous driving and intelligent transportation, shared his knowledge of intelligent science and intelligent industry through a combination of theory and cases.

The summit also invited several industry insiders, among them top executives at Pony.ai, Didi, AutoX and Roadstar.ai, to share their views on the hot topic of “autonomous driving”.

Lingang International Innovation Center acts as the backbone of Shanghai’s technology innovation platform, helping companies gain access to resources through collaborations with likeminded companies abroad as a vehicle for bringing in advanced technologies.
